Cranbourne cops unveil secret weapon

CRANBOURNE police have a secret weapon for the Victoria Police and Emergency Services Games petanque competition next March: a custom-built piste at the station.

Sen-Constable Peter Pryce-Lewis said it was the first petanque piste of its kind to be built at a police station in Victoria and possibly Australia.

"We've only had the piste up and running for a couple of months, but we're trying to start up a regular competition with local ambos and police stations," he said. "So the new piste will hopefully get a good workout soon. We hope it will give us the winning edge."

Not that they need it.

At the 2006 games the Cranbourne team of 14 brought home 11 of the 15 medals up for grabs.
